About Us

The core focus of LBN is to create effective business forums and communication networks that bring the London biotechnology sector together in order to:

  • Share knowledge among members based on their collective experience
  • Debate key issues impacting on the future development of London's biotechnology sector
  • To showcase London companies and technologies seeking investment to the venture capital and bio-partnering community
  • Provide opportunities to bring London's members together with other biotechnology clusters, both UK and overseas
  • Through Career Track, promote career options in the industry and provide guidance on what skills and connections enable scientist and entrepreneurs to succeed.
  • Provide a key information portal on London's biotechnology sector through listings of the companies, institutions, investors and professional service members of the Network on the web site and within other reports
  • Capitalise on the critical mass of the Network to negotiate special rate deals with suppliers such as business intelligence providers, conference organisers, journal publishers and so on.

Activities managed by LBN that deliver on the above goals include:

  • Bio-Wednesdays: Monthly networking meetings attracting approximately 200 delegates, each with a theme of relevance to our members
  • Investor/Partnering Events Less frequent but more focussed than Bio-Wednesdays and often run in collaboration with international partners to create effective partnering foums-
  • Genesis www.genesisconference.com: Annual conference that now includes the only UK Biotechnology Company Showcase. The event attracts in excess of 800 delegates and exhibitors from UK and further, with presentations from industry leaders, exhibition hall, Technology Showcase and on-line partnering facilities. An excellent opportunity to keep up to date with recent developments in the industry, forge new business relationships and raise awareness of your company to potential partners and investors.
  • LBN Career Track: Sponsored by the London Development Agency this delivers regular evening events aimed at increasing awareness of career opportunities and how to grasp them in the minds of emerging biopharma professionals. There is also a 1-2-1-mentoring scheme, recruitment offering and links with The Source careers conference led by Nature Publishing Group
