There are a large range of VCs headquartered in London. Among the bigger players are specialist VCs, which focus on gap-level investment. One example is Atlas Venture, which invests primarily in early stage companies, and also offer their time, expertise and network to foster success. Beer and Partners is another firm that has a special focus on providing SMEs from various industries with finance to grow.
The London Business Angels is another avenue for funding and support. With a network of over 130 business angels (private investors) with a total of £50m available for investment, it’s worth investigating. The London Seed Capital fund is an additional arm of the organisation for early stage companies and can match funds with a business angel to help start-ups grow. Additionally, the London Business Angels provide specialist business development training for high growth enterprises. The High Growth Coaching programme started in March 2008.
